“Make your college visits a family affair. Afterward, discuss the pros and cons of each school you’re considering—including costs. A candid family discussion may help you decide on the college that’s perfect for you.”
—Dr. William A. Edmonds, dean of admissions at California University of Pennsylvania
Family Connection is an online tool, custom-designed for your high school, that you, your family members, and your school counselor can use together to determine your best path to college and ultimately a career.
Family Connection has an amazing number of tools and lots of information to help make your college search easier. This guide will show you how course, college, and career planning all work together in Family Connection so you can find colleges and careers that are the best match for your interests and talents. Your school may also use Family Connection to share information about upcoming meetings and events, local scholarships, clubs, and other college and career opportunities.
Navigating Family Connection is easy! It’s divided into five main tabs: Courses, Colleges, Careers, About Me, and My Planner. On the opposite page you’ll find a quick glimpse of the tools found within each tab. Refer to the Family Connection tips throughout this guide to see many of these tools in action. Your school may not use all the features mentioned, so talk to your counselor about the options available and how to get started.
